Since October 17, 2025, Local 109 has been under an International Trusteeship, with me, George Evans, serving as your Trustee. Our work has focused on three things: restoring financial integrity to the Local, enforcing your contract with Air Methods, and rebuilding the tools and structure your future elected leadership will need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We completed a full review of the Local’s bank records. That review identified problems \u2014 including spending that was never authorized \u2014 and also let us protect and grow what belongs to you: a $250,000 account that had gone dormant and was at risk of being lost was recovered and secured, and $1,475,000 in reserves is now earning interest in FDIC-insured Certificates of Deposit instead of sitting idle. We also recovered $15,792.55 in improper or duplicate bank charges. Along the way, we’ve put new systems in place: UnionTrack for dues and membership, QuickBooks for accounting, and a dedicated operations coordinator to keep this work on track going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nine termination and discipline grievances have been carried through the grievance procedure and are now headed to arbitration before a neutral arbitrator, as your contract provides. We’re also pursuing seven systemic (Union-wide) grievances addressing patterns that affect the entire membership: how discipline notice is given, how schedule changes are communicated, how out-of-region assignments are handled, and whether the Company is meeting its information and reporting obligations under the contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An audit of the first quarter of 2026 found 1,035 discrepancies in how the Company reports and remits your dues \u2014 including active pilots who had no dues collected at all. We filed a grievance to force correction, and separately grieved the Company’s failure to provide the monthly reporting the contract requires, which is supposed to help catch exactly these kinds of errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stewards are usually a member’s first point of contact with the Union \u2014 someone who can walk you through your rights and help determine whether an issue needs to become a formal grievance. We’re actively rebuilding this program, and every member is welcome to learn how the process works, whether or not you’re interested in becoming a steward yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A new Constitution and Bylaws document is in its final stages, and we’re developing protective policies to help ensure the oversight gaps of the past can’t happen again. We’re committed to keeping you informed as this work continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
